Ninox Storage - Deleting Manual and Automated Backups

If you notice that your storage has exceeded your licence's limitation, try deleting Manual backups and Automated Backups to reduce unnecessary space.

- Open the Usage Overview page
- Check which of your team is exceeding storage
- Go back to your team
- Click on 'Manage Backups'
- Delete unnecessary Manual & Automated Backups

The changes will not be reflected immediately in the 'Usage Overview' Panel, but after a few hours you should be able to see the difference.

Remember that Ninox Cloud automatically creates a backup of your databases every day. Check this link for more info on Automated backups.

Good tip - I do regularly check my backups and delete old unwanted ones

in fact Ninox conducts many backups at set intervals on all your databases.

what would be useful is a setting to say control the time intervals of cloud backups and also the option to set a database not to back up- thus saving space

ie case in point I copy my main database(s) to that I can do testing on them. I do a few manual backups but don't need it to back up every time I'm in it etc.....

Maria The setting that Mel Charles is talking about would need to be set per database. This is a must feature since this is effecting many people:

    • per DB turn / on off auto back ups
    • if on then set number of max back ups
    • if on then set interval of back ups

The problem is Ninox makes back ups even if you don't use the Database. According to Ninox it shouldn't.

The changes made re: tiers and restrctions per tier has really been a frustrating inconvenience!! I was in the MIDDLE of a subscription year when the changes were implemented. No one likes surprises especially a change of subscription terms which I had no opportunity to decide anything concerning what would work for me or not AT the time I paid for the annual subscription. Of course, Ninox has the right to change their subscriptions/terms to whatever they wish HOWEVER, they should honor the terms the subscriber agreed to WHEN they renewed their subscription for that year BEFORE the changes were implementes.

Because of that, I am not sure I'll be renewing my cloud subscription again for the 4th yr. I do not feel this was in good faith. I do not do that to my clients. Perhaps Ninox just wants to work with larger businesses vs. just us small-scale developers.

Again, to be very clear --- it's not because of the pricing/change (to a tiered-system) per se,  ... it's how Ninox implemented the change and the frustating inconvenience it has created for me.

--> My issue is with the (in)ability to DOWNLOAD my own databases which I currently cannot do since I'm at my max capacity!  I've done all the steps as indicated in the tutorial but still have not been able to get below the limit.

I want to delete some of my databases because I can get them off the cloud (thus, no longer taking up storage space ....), BUT I want to DOWNLOAD them first before I DELETE them.

I cannot even understand why that's not possible ... that there isn't just a 'download' database option vs. having to create a backup copy in the cloud first then download???

So, what am I supposed to do? Because I've done 'delete backups' over and over and that still doesn't allow me the space to be able to download my own files. It's like a catch-22. By the way, the deletion of backups IS very cumbersome ....

    Thanks for any help. Karen

I agree that the backups functionality is poorly implemented. The auto back up - backs up multiple times even on DB's that you are not currently using. Deleting is a nightmare when you are trying to delete them as the screen list jumps all over the place.

I have requested to support time and time again that we should have :-

    1. Option to mark a database to be included or not in auto back up.

    2. Set a interval timing wise to back up

    3. Set a db so that when backup takes place it gives auto download as well.

I can't afford to run out of room as i used Ninox to drive my business so I took the optional extra first chunk 10GB of space which basically equates to 1 extra user cost per month.

Thanks Mel! Yes, it is a pain >

a.) not to have control over how many backsups/time intervals and on which databases -

b.) deleting backups, is like playing a video game from the 70s.

I was told they were going to add the feature to delete multiple backups at a time - in the future. (not specific though). Yah~!

    Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays all!!
