Alan Cooke I had started creating an interface that allows you to drop the tables you want and shows the links between tables in blue, as well as the dependency links of calculation formulas in green, yellow, and red. However, the representation is not yet clear enough. If you have any ideas, I’m open to suggestions.

Jacques TUR In Access (Microsoft) they use the infinity symbol on the many side and the number on the one side.  I think that would help a great deal.  They also use straight lines which can be dragged to suit.  The lines do not curve.  To my mind that is also a lot clearer.

That being said your example above is 200% better than the current data models :-)

Alan Cooke  Hi, I’m with you on that. The arrows are better for being more descriptive, with which table is the "one" and which is the "many" in each relationship.

Just a couple of thoughts.

1) with the little square dots in the upper right corner of each table, does that mean we can move the table around?

2) I like the red lines that show fields being used in formulas. My only thought is that I have some fields that are used all over, over 50 times. I can't imagine what that would look like. Can we have a way to select what kind of links are displayed?

Fred Yes, it is possible to move tables around and display only the ones you want. It's the same for fields, just double-click on them to make them appear or disappear.
 

For links, I agree that it should be possible to select the type of link you want to display. It would also be nice to be able to select a field and automatically display the entire upstream and/or downstream dependency chain.

Sotirios Zormpas It is perfectly possible to do both: arrow AND signs:

 And for lines to be straight or rounded, it can also be a display parameter. (I personally prefer rounded lines ).

Jacques TUR Rounded or not is a personal preference.  Either way I am easy on that one especially since dragging is an option and what to display in the way of relationship.  Will it be possible to save a layout for later reference.

MG You mean an overview system for links between tables for Ninox?

MG This is a prototype that is not yet functional. So I haven't shared it yet because it has a lot of bugs. I can't say when I'll be able to improve it and put it online. I still have several whole days of development to do.
