How to share active database with another user?

Hi,

I'm wanting to share a database with another user in my family. So far I've been totally confused on how this can be done.
My info: I'm using a free Ninox program app on my iPad and iPhone. The database is very simple.
The user I want to share it with needs to be able to see any changes/updates I make to the database but doesn't need to be able to edit/update the database.

So, is this possible using the free Ninox app on our iPads and iPhones?

i appreciate any help regarding this request.

Thank you

Gary G.

No, only if the same appleID is used on all the devices.

And also only if you use the database in iCloud (= option when you create one)

The user can also change your data!

Using a cloud subscription is recommended for your use case.

    Steven,

thank you for the response. I think I'm not going to be able to do this as I research the issue further.. It seems to me however if the app was installed on wife's iPad and then logged into the app as me, then she would have access to the database. But I guess that's not how it works. I see an image of a cloud next to the database but not sure whether that is iCloud or Ninox Cloud image....though I suspect it's iCloud since I don't pay anything for using Ninox.

My iPad and iPhone both have access to the database and of course are both in my account. It's disappointing that she cannot access the database. Guess I'll have to start looking for another solution.

    Thank you

    Gary

If you have the app version and do not pay a month fee then yes you are using iCloud as your file storage. That is how Ninox shares a DB file amongst Apple devices. And that is why you have to use the same AppleID on each device to see this “shared” database.

There are other limitations as well. The big one is that data is not sync’d live using iCloud. You have to close one instance for the data to be uploaded then open it on another device.

If you wife has her own iCloud account then I’m sorry to say that you might have to pay for a Cloud account. But you can share the same account, if you trust her. :)

I think you will have to pay for an online account with any other program as well. I don’t see a way for you to “share” your db between devices. If they use iCloud for storage then you are stuck in the same place. I guess if they supported storage on OneDrive or Workspace or Dropbox then the file can be shared between devices.
