Formula for next blank field

Hi Group,

I have button that will open a table and show the last entry for a field. Does anyone know what I can add to the formula or create a new to open the table and display the next blank field instead of the last entry?

    The field is already contained in an existing record. 

    The table where the field exists is a table used for referencing dynamic field data. 

    One field is the 50 state names of the USA. 

    The field I’m referencing only has 14 entries at this point in time. But we want to add additional data in that field without creating a new record.

    I’m hoping to have a formula that will jump to the empty # 15.
