Beginner's question
This is so simple and basic I'm almost embarrassed to ask. I have a recipe database one of whose fields is 'Ethnicity', with various options (Chinese, Italian, Greek, etc.). I want to add a new option, but I can't remember how to do it. (I must have known at one time, because I created the database, but I'm lost now.) Can you help?

If you have a database with 'Ehtnicity' you can add a new record in there and it should appear in your dropdown on your recipe database/form.

Another place to look is if your field Ethnicity is a choice field then you would go to Edit Fields then simply edit the field to add a new choice.
If you created a dynamic choice field then follow Andreas comment about adding a new record to the Ethnicity table.

Thanks for the suggestions, Andreas and Fred. My problem, however, was that I could not Edit Fields. The reason, it turns out, is that I could not enter edit mode, and the reason for that was that my database was (unknown to me) stored in iCloud, rather than locally. This, for some obscure reason, prevents one from entering edit mode. The solution was to "Reorganize" the database, which (for some reason) restores it to the local hard drive, at which point one can enter edit mode (the red wrench makes an appearance on the upper right). After that, it was easy. But getting there sure was unintuitive.
