How are images stored?

How is a file saved in an image field stored?  Is the whole file stored within dBase or just a link?  In practice, can an iamge file be deleted once it has been imported into the filed of a dBase?

And in same way what about files attacjed to a record?

Many thanks,

rkevinbrown

Yes you can delete images once they have been imported or attached

just goto that image and select the 3 lines in top right corner of the image and select delete

I believe that removes the file from the database.  I want to keep the image in the dBase and remove the original file from the computer - is that possible?

rk.brown When Ninox imports an image, it copies the file to its own 'internal' folders and actually just stores in the database a link to that new file. So yes, once imported, the original file can be disposed of.

But importing images seems to be a manual process of dragging and dropping image files. This works, but is impractical for bulk import and I've still no idea how to bulk import images by pathname.

Many thanks, that's comforting to know.  Fortunately I'm not involved with baulk import - just 2/4 images per record.

    Thanks again,
