How to reset a database?

Hi all.

Using the Mac desktop app.

After "tuning" a database, testing it with test data, etc.  what is a good way to reset it to a virgin state, resetting, among other things, all record Ids, etc...  

Would "Duplicate database" do it?

    Up to version 3.9, when duplicating a database, there were options to allow the duplication of the records and the files. Setting those options to "No" allowed one to create a virgin database. Those options disappeared in version 3.10, at least in the iOS app. I did contact the Ninox support about this bug, and they did treat my complaint as a request for a new functionality. ☹️

      I didn't know that they removed this feature. I guess I don't use it very often.

    Hi all.  

    Using the Mac Desktop app.

    I think I've found the solution:

    1. Open the database
    2. Make sure to select the database name in the column on the left, to reveal the "Import Data" and "Export Data" buttons
    3. Click on the "Export Data" button
    4. In the popup that opens, titled "Export Data", select the "Ninox" tab
    5. Now, the popup displays a list of the db's tables with checkboxes.  De-select all the "Data" and "Files" checkboxes.  Leave "Data Model" checkboxes selected.
    6. Click on the button "Save as".
    7. Complete the "Save" operation.

    This creates a Ninox archive which can then be imported into Ninox.  As far as I can tell, all the fields are still there but the tables are empty of any records.  The record Ids appear to have been reset to zero.  All the formulas appear to be intact and functioned as expected in a limited test.

    CAVEAT:  I'm a newbie with Ninox.  So I cannot guarantee that this "solution" works 100%.  If you want to use  it, make sure you have good backups and test it properly in your environment.

       Nice finding, congratulations. I did verify on a rather complex database that everything is as it should be in the empty copy. When I contacted Ninox support to signal that the options had disappeared from "Duplicate database", they should have mentioned this alternative, no?
