Dynamic Printing Table layout

Hi all -

So I'm trying to format a table in dynamic printing where every other line is a different color. I thought you could just format the second line in a different color, but it doesn't show up.

How does one get every other line of a table to print in a different color in Carbone?

Hi Fred, try to use the Table Design option in Word. That should work. Attached a screenshot how you could arrange it. Hope this helps... Frank

I'm trying it with the repetition function:

Even though the second row is colored it doesn't print. Which I guess that makes sense it Carbone just takes the first row and duplicates it with new data.

I went through the Carbone help files and they don't mention anything about having different color row color.

I guess I can just gather all of the data for each team in a different set of field names. Then I can color the table colors.

Hi Fred, as I mentioned in my answer. You have to use the word options to format the table, then it will works. The repetition function is correct, but it delivers only the data for the table, not the format. The format comes from the word settings. Try it with the template...

correct, that looks strange. Could you upload your word-template?

Sorry, I deleted the post cause I was wrong. My code was broken due to some other changes in my DB. I've fixed the code and now I get this PDF with your Template.

Did you have a look at their template examples? The bidirectional loop template contains a table with 2 colors... so I guess it must be possible.

Thanks for the heads up. I downloaded their template and looked at it.

It does look like a simple formatting, but when I try it. I get.

Looking more at the formatting they have some code at the bottom row.

Which I guess tells it to stop, but my data does not have the need for a summary row. As you can I see I tried just putting text but that didn't do anything.

It has finally taken me this long to find out that was right all along and I just couldn't wrap my wee brain around his answer.

So yes, you have to use Table Styles to have your table print with different colors on odd/even lines. You just can't select a background color.

It's the classic Henry Ford approach - You can have any colour you like so long as its one of Words limited palette !.

It's a right faff all this carbone stuff. I'm still getting mixed performance results with it- thus can't rely on it for sending out to my clients.

I remember not so far back that a lot of software had decent report designer/editors built in or used the industry standard Crystal reports. For the life of me i cannot understand why Ninox give us a basic reports module yet don't develop it up so it is effectivly hardwired in.
