Zapier (free version) and Ninox

So as usual - I am well behind the curve.

Following on from John Halls success with Zapier on previous posts. I was inspired to automate some of manual steps I make to keep two datasets up to date and thus I duly down loaded the freebie version of Zapier and would work on testing my "TESTING small dataset " email service first. In terms of the api links etc - have all this sorted and have so far linked Nixox - to EmailOctopus - aka EO (my testbed email program as this gives decent email send levels of up to about 7000 concact sends free).

Tests tried

Add email in EO - auto add contact in Ninox - Works!

Opt out contact in EO - Auto Opt out in Ninox - Works

Add new contact in Ninox  - Auto add contact in EO - Works

Opt out in Ninox - Auto update record EO - Does not work.  - Well it does but it also opts out any other record when I modify on any other field other the opt in/out status field - Zapier's choice seems to only offer only two options as in image below - thus on the face of it it does work but just sees the optin/out as just one of many true conditions to performs an unsubscribe in EO.

Thus what I need is a condition filter - ie only update the EO record if opt out is true otherwise leave well alone- However I can't find a filter condition - so am right in thinking that this is not available in the freebie version of Zapier or am I am missing the blindly obvious?

The other thing I noticed is that in testeding many of the conditojn so far - the proven zap connect seems fall over occasionally and a wrong data set record gets update for no good reason. - If i then revisit the saved zap and check it over (open edit to check the steps) and the try to re save the "publish" button has greyed out? - If I leave and exit and go back later some time later I can either publish or I have the scrap the zap and restart.?

Any help/advice would be great as I want to get this perfect before. :-

  • I purchase a subscription version of Zapier
  • I switch the tril to my main Ninox database as with over 800k contact records I don't wnat the get this wrong!
