count comments

Is there a possibility to show the number of existing comments attachent to a record?

I've programmed that for attached documents: cnt(files(this))

    What do you mean by "comments attached to a record"?

     

    1) Are the comments in a field in another table?

     

    2) or are the comments all in one field that is in the same table?
