Copy "text" field contents into "Choice" field?
Hi all.
(Real newbie question)
Searched, found two answers which I don't understand, so here goes:
I already have a database, populated with records. I'd like to take the contents of a "Text" field and copy them into a "Choice" field, for all the records of the database, in one operation.
Afterwards, I'd like to be able to delete the "Text" field from the database.
Is there a simple way to accomplish this???

If you Choice field is a simple choice field. First you need to make sure there is a choice for all possible data in the Text field. They need to be exactly the same (casing especially).
In your table, click on the gear icon and select Bulk edit...
Select the drop down menu next to your choice field and select Assign calculated value.
Click on the empty box that shows up and the editor will open.
Type in or select the text field you want to copy over.
Click the Save button.
Click the Next button.
Verify that the information is being properly processed. Scroll through a few pages.
When ready, click on the Execute update button.
Once it is done and you have verified that all data has transferred properly then you can go back and delete the text field.
