Ability to edit a database offline

Hi All,

Bit of a random question.

Background Information:

I use the cloud version.

I manage mates database for his company in my spare time.

im constantly looking at it and doing small updates.
issue is during the day, the database is constantly being used so if I want to make any major updates that will take me a couple of hours to programme, I have to do it at night so it doesn’t effect his business.

Is there a way to take a database offline to perform major updates and then release back online with the new updates?

Not as far as I know -  the whole point of it being on the web is to be live at all times

Mel Charles I’ve read about opening Ninox and then going offline which would technically work. But I think this would only work on iPhone and not PC’s

There was someone/company, I think Jacques TUR has had dealings with them who were providing a solution for this.  I looked into it a year or two ago so I am not sure if still a 'thing'.  The idea was one could update a DB and have the data migrate into the new updated DB.  I think it was Gitnox or something along those lines.

Alan Cooke that would be good to know if any progress was made on this as likewise there is many a time i too have to tweak our live DB whilst other users are using.... which pushes the risk factor !!

We owe to M. Daaboul , the founder of Wavatec and creator of Gitnox, the information that it is possible to execute HTML in a dialog box. This is what I use since then to initialize Ninext. I guess that's what Alan Cooke  is talking about?
But I haven't had the pleasure of talking to them more than that so far. I should because they seem to have a lot of knowledge about the Ninox code.

Hi  , yes this indeed is one of the use cases of gitnox, i.e the ability of develop in one database (call it master db) then have another instance for beta testing and another version for production, with the ability of rolling back and forth between snapshots, all while documenting your release notes. You can also manage this entire cycle within a ninox app that we’ve already published inside the english webinar team. Très pratique ! If you’re interested we could ask Tim to organize us a special side partner call to go over gitnox.

      Best !

MODA thank you very much for the clarification. I am very interested in this and have read your documentation but still not exactly sure how it works. I’ve created a snapshot. Where do I then start my editing work? I currently use my clients login on Ninox to work on his database. I don’t have my own login on Ninox but I have created an account on Gitnox
