Date-period before and after

Hi! I'm looking for a formula to check if a date-period is before or after an other date-period. The response of the formula can be "yes" or "no". Is it possible also to personalise the response with other words? Can someone help me?

    Create a Formula field with this code

    ---

    if 'Other Date' > Date then
    "Yes or Bigger or..."
    else
    "No or Smaller or..."
    end
