creating an online test environment that maintains my data create dates

Hi -

I have an online membership database with about 800 members. I have a process to create a test environment that keeps all of my data (use my local Mac app, import the online database there, export to my local drive with a "test environment" kinda name, them import that newly created archive into my online workspace.

It's a little klunky but seems to do the job, but all the create dates on my contacts change to the date I create the test environment, making it useless for updating metrics that use that create date.

Anyone know how to create a test environment that pulls all the data & keeps the create dates intact?

    Clumsy workaround: can you change the contacts create dates to a text field and import that way?  Then reverse the procedure prior to export?

    I worry about messing with live contact data, would prefer to avoid this.
