New Version 3.7 - 2 things that irritate me.
There have been 2 things that have irritated me over the last couple of years.
I'll use my customer quote form as the example
1. That fact that you can double click on table of quotes and edit the underlying parent data without having to open the form itself. (Good) BUT you could not do this on a child table view/grid (Quote Line Items) from with the main form. ie you have to open each line of the child table to edit ! - Annoying.
2. Print layouts in Ninox are as basic as you can get. The level of control over the form is terrible! especially when it comes to control attributes on a embedded child tables (ie Quote Line Items - and the final output form looks crude - Again Annoying.
Well we are getting version 3.7 (Web only version for now) that supposedly is addressing both issues.
Double click edit child table from within parent form and anew print engine.
Yippeee - Can't wait to test to destruction !
All I need now is the way to finally print the file to pdf save it as an attached ( i can do this but.....) then when it auto downloads it keeps the number of the quote instead of a record number
ie Quote 12345.pdf. wheres - I get Quote 7859 etc which is the records number.
Oh well .... solve one thing at a time

Mel Charles I don't want to destroy your mood getting these new features BUT the "new" Print Engine is an integration with a 3rd party and only for Private Cloud and only allows 1000 PDFs / month and no counter for the team so you have no idea how many you used. The Inline editing for tables does not work on Table View elements only on Sub-Table connections BUT you have to type the text value of a the option if it is a select field, no drop down, or no check box, etc...
I have asked for the feature long time ago to print existing PDF files or able to name them when using the printRecord() function, don't know when it will be considered to be implemented. -
I hear about a new print engine, but with 3.7 announced and no mention I would think that we won't see it for another quarter or so. 3.6 came out 3 months ago. 3.5 - 10 months. 3.4 - 1 year. So it could come out in a few months to 7 months.
Would a print engine change deserve a full version number?

Looking at bugs reported in this forum, and looking at major bugs I informed them months or even a year ago, take a guess how many have been addressed. ZERO.
I have no trust in Ninox to address AND fix any bug. The built-in print engine is crap, no site breaks and many other things missing. I changed to use their dynamic print forms. One month into it, my users can't print anymore in web browser unless they have "Admin" role which I cannot give them.
Now they must print out from their smartphone. That's a shame and we pay for it. And still Ninox does nothing about.
And this is just one example.Have you tried to duplicate a print template (built-in engine) which was some images in it? It won't duplicate the images. Informed them a year ago. Not yet fixed.
Date formatting is another issue. Unless in a formula field, it never works.
iPad app doesn't work with the Magic Keyboard Cover (the one with the trackpad).
I could continue with at least another 10 examples. All reported to them, never fixed.
If anything can drive me away from Ninox, then that there are no bugfixes at all and other then useless promises, they do nothing.

Yep .. Sucks doesn't it - I guess Ninox thinks that it this techno online age, no one needs to print! - so it feature right at the back of a to do list.....shame !
