Print a 'View' page element

Hi,

I need to include a selection of images from a subtable in a print layout.. I can do that, but I need to use the 'unique' function, as some of the images are repeated but I need to only show each image once. 
If I include a formula element on the print layout and use the unique() function with the image field from the subtable, the formula element disappears from the print layout (Pretty sure that's a bug.. it shouldn't completely disappear from the layout page).

I can create a 'view' element on the form layout and that will display each image once, as I need - but I don't want it on the form layout, I need it in the print layout but seems impossible..  

Is there any way to do this?
