Export/change/import attachments

Hi gurus,

In our DB, we have a huge number of attachments, some of which can be of reducible size. Is there a way to access directly the attachments, in order to reduce their size (pdf, photos) ?

If it is not possible to access these directly through a kind of 'ftp' access, is there a way to export them in mass / reduce their size / import in mass?

Or latest option, is it possible to move the attachments on an external storage location (would it work with Google drive for example) ?

Thanks!

Using the attachment (paperclip) for images, pdf's etc is to be avoided as far as I am concerned.  Very rapidly the database will become bloated.

My Project Management DB requires a lot of drawings, schematics and assorted documents available.  The solution that works for me is to use DropBox (or Google Drive, OneDrive etc) to store my documents and using a URL field paste the copied Shared Link into that field.

I have a document repository table which links as a child to the parent table(s).  In that way the document is dedicated to a particular parent record and a view of the Doc Repository is embedded in the parent form.  Works a treat.

Alan Cooke Thank you Alan for your feedback, we will give a try to your proposal!

When I export my DB, I have this "files" folder with a list of numerical sub-folders containing the attachments (pics, pdf, ...) Isn't there a way to access this folder in Ninox Cloud, so that I could at least in the meantime reduce the size of some of the existing documents there?

yann Not sure about that to be honest, perhaps someone reading this post could assist there.
