simple calculation base don gender

This is probably somewhere in the manual or in the forum, but I have looked and not found anything satisfactory.  I have a database of teams, in these teams are people, whose gender is identified (male/female inputs).  If I want to have a simple calculation of number of females and/or males per team....  total beginner here apologies for the simple question..... :)

    Thank you so much Fabio! I am not sure how to translate that to my architecture though (it's quite possible the architecture isn't ideal too...) please see this database which is a copy with fictitious records.....  https://www.dropbox.com/s/x8ntjaf2nf7pmch/GRE.ninox?dl=0

    Basically I want to be able to click on a team and have a formula field that extracts the student gender and calculates/counts the numbers of male/female/other.  Apologies if the formula you entered is the correct one - I am quite clueless :)
