Clear History / Rebuild Index / Rebuild Thumbnails
This may be a bit of a stupid question, but I'm new to databases. I'm trying to understand exactly what happens when each of these actions are performed. Are there any adverse implications if I Clear History or Rebuild Index or Rebuild Thumbnails? What is happening in the background when theses actions are performed? Any insight to help me understand better would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

For what it's worth, ultimately I'm trying to get more speed as my database seems to be really slow.

Hi,
Clear history - will remove all the history entries from you database that will reduce the size of your database and probably improve the performance.
Rebuild index - will rebuild the search indexes and will speed up the search of big databases.
