How do i make a column in a view invisible?

“hide column” just removes it from the view, together with its folter, sort etc etc, rather than hiding it. I need to sort on a column that I don’t want displayed.

    Hi, 

    at the moment it is only possible to sort on displayed columns. We have the feature already on our change request list.
