Display and already uploaded attachment in an 'image field'

As a rule I try to avoid paperclip attachments or displaying large images in fields however on the odd occasion I would like to.  Is there a way to display an attachment that has been uploaded in a formula field or image field.  In other words refer to the paperclip attachment.

I ask because one cannot display an attachment in a Dynamic Report without it first being displayed as a field in a record.
