Mac App - Table Import and Export Data options

Is this functionality documented anywhere?  It would be nice to know what the options for Data Model, Data, Files and Target mean.  I have played with it a little but get results different than what I expect.  I have been developing/playing in a test database and created a new Dashboard table.  I would like to import this table and view and the data in this table into my live environment.   The little bit of playing I have done with exporting/importing has had mixed results.
