For making reports, can you please allow users to select which fields are summarized in the footer?

I would like to concatenate the text of grouped records, but I don't want that data to be concatenated in the footer as well. I've tried to turn off the footer, but then I cannot  create sums for my number fields, which I need to do. Can you make fields selectively show up in the footer, please?
