Select a field with a button

Is there a way to create a function for a button that will end with selecting a field in the current form so that after clicking the button, the user can just start typing the data for the first field that needs to be filled out? For example, I have button that the user clicks to start the record, which sets a date and a time field, but I would like it to additionally select the Name field, so that after clicking the button, the user can just start typing.
