a no duplicate records

How I can prevent duplicate records being added?   (ok found other information but not good uderstand)

For example

Create a Text field . and called this . CARTELLE . and add a Number   like 123123213128379

how can the field CARTELLE  no duplicate the added number 123123213128379 when insert ?
